Turning 26 and Lasik Surgery Experience

Asalam alaykum everyone! I turned 26 last month and I just wanted to share some photos I took for the occasion. I remember when I was taking the photos in the park we just found out Biden won the election and we would hear cheering of people around us.

This was definitely a strange year, my last birthday I was in London and it was definitely more lonely not being around family and friends. This year was a blessing being able to get a Tres Leche cake from Cafe Latte and have Ethiopian food with my mom and then go to Cheesecake factory with my friends a few days later. I am blessed because despite everything going on with Corona Virus, I still have been able to work, provide for myself and I have my health, friends and family.

These have been tough time for everyone, a lot of people have lost their jobs, homes and people they love. I do miss being able to have gatherings with big groups of people where we would talk about Quran and Allah, and just strengthen the bond of sisterhood. It has been hard for me personally keeping up my motivation in terms of my faith without being able to be active in the Muslim community.

At the same time, I know it is extremely irresponsible to even have gatherings, there have been people having massive parties and not being safe which has lead to them and others catching the virus. It has been an extremely lonely and sad time, with losing people and also losing our way of life. It has been hard on people's mental health to not be able to be more active and see some of their loved ones.

I pray that we get through this difficult time, that Allah heals the souls dealing with pain whether it is emotionally or physically. May Allah cure anyone affected by the virus. May Allah grant strength to the families who lost someone.

I wanted to also share about a surgery I decided to go through called Lasik surgery. It is a laser surgery that corrects vision. Not vision impacted by age but extreme near sightedness or far sightedness. I am very nearsighted I could only see things if they were right in front of my face. I decided to get the surgery so I wouldn't have to wear glasses (which I didn't like wearing) or spend money on expensive contacts. The surgery went very well, I am very blessed, if you want to know more, watch the video below!

Take care everyone, stay healthy and safe!
