Prayers and Support for Syria: Under Attack
Asalam alaykum loves, we made it through another day of Ramadan, May Allah bless everything you are doing for His Sake, May you stronger in your deen and keep you on the straight path! I think Ramadan can be hard at times and you want to give up, but know that this month is not over, there is still time to benefit if you feel like you may not have so far. I think we are human and we slip up, I know for me personally the first few days I was good with staying off YouTube and not watching makeup, vlogs and haunted house videos and strictly only listening to podcasts or YouTube videos that are lectures about Islam. Of course I slipped up and started watching those again and I do feel like I should be pushing myself to make more dual and focusing on the goals I made at the beginning.
Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon him) said: “There has come to you Ramadan, a blessed month which Allah has enjoined you to fast, during which the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the rebellious devils are chained up. In it there is a night which is better than a thousand months, and whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.” (Hadith Narrated by An-Nasaa’i, 2106; Ahmad, Sahih At-Targheeb, 999.)

I hope that if these last 13 days haven't felt as productive you are able to become motivated for the remainder of this month! Myself included!
So I want to continue to shed light on causes that need our attention and we can donate to for Allah's Sake for reward as well as help give people a chance who are suffering and need our help: Syria.
I just want to warn you before you read on, I do not include graphic details of violence but I do mention the facts and numbers of who died, which may be upsetting to you, it did make me feel upset while I was doing the research. But it is necessary to understand what is going on and to put pressure on those involved to stop doing this and bring aid to the families affected by this tragedy.
"Over the past three weeks, more than 180,000 people have been displaced due to the latest violence, Lowcock said. Up to 160 people have been killed.
Meanwhile, at least 18 hospitals and clinics have been destroyed or damaged by air raids and shelling, several of which were on UN "no target" lists that detail exact locations of the health facilities to the warring sides, the UN aid chief told the council."
"In a statement issued on Thursday, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that “on Tuesday night, as families gathered to break their fasts for the Ramadan Iftar meal, several rockets hit the densely populated Neirab camp for Palestine refugees in Aleppo, killing at least ten civilians and wounding more than thirty”.
“Among those killed were four children, the youngest just six years old,” the statement noted, adding that “a number of the injured remain in critical condition”.
I have no words after reading this, my heart feels heavy, this is so inhumane, to attack a refugee camp in the first place but you kill children! Allah sees all that you do, May those killed in war and during this blessed month of Ramadan, be granted into Jennah Tul Furdaus, May their sins be forgiven, May they have ease in the grave and May they be reunited with their families in the afterlife.
In my research I also came across an article about a 55 year old Palestinian mother who fled Syria to the Netherlands with her four children, the experience and hardship they faced immigrating, to finding a job and home and to fitting in and learning a whole new language.
"In Syria, Suhair, had stayed with her husband long after their relationship had gone bad. Even as she became increasingly unhappy in her marriage, she told herself she could wait it out until her youngest made it to university. And when Suhair left Syria for good, it was for the children as well. Had it just been her, Suhair most likely would not have gone, even as the country unraveled; she was not afraid to die there, and she was wary of the indignities of displacement and of the loss of the only home she’d ever known."
The Stories of Syria will shake us, turn our world upside down, make us wake up to a reality we may never live or understand. But one thing is clear, as Muslims we help those in need, read on to donate to organizations working to help Syrian and Palestinian refugees get the supplies, food and hopefully better futures they deserve.
