Reflection on Juz 18, Verses in Surahs Al Mumin, An-Nur and Al-Furqan
Asalam alaykum, we made it through Day 18 ! MashAllah Ramadan is flying by and it is hard to believe it is almost over, May Allah allow us to see another Ramadan and benefit with the remaining time we have left! May Allah help all those suffering all over the world and grant them ease! Ameen!
I am trying to get myself reflect more Quran so here are some verses that caught me eye;
I am trying to get myself reflect more Quran so here are some verses that caught me eye;
Surah Al-Mu'minun:
23:12- "And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay."
23:13- "Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging."
23:14-"Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators."
I loved these verses because they describe the beginning of life. How Adam was made by Allah from clay, how human life starts as a sperm and an egg and turns into bones and flesh and will be able to hear and move. It is amazing that the Quran has been around longer before scientists discovered the process of a baby being formed in the womb!
23:57- "Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord"
23:58- "And they who believe in the signs of their Lord"
23:59- "And they who do not associate anything with their Lord"
23:60- "And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord -
23:61- "It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein."
23:62- "And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged."
These verses spoke to me because it is describing people who fear Allah, believe in Him and do not associate partners with Him, and they are mindful that Allah is watching them and want to do good deeds because they know they will have to answer for what they have done before Allah. May Allah make us amongst these people! The last verse is the most beautiful, we will not be burdened except with that which we are able to handle, so if Allah puts you through any difficulty know that He is aware of your strength and determination to be able to endure it.
"My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels"
"In arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil."
"Then have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers?"
"Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging?"
"Or do they say, "In him is madness?" Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse."

23:66-71-
"My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels"
"But if the Truth had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away."
These verses definitely are a warning, we do not want to be people who ignore the verses of the Quran and ignore the message of the Prophet Muhammad, calling him crazy or mad for what he has taught us. He told us the truth but there are those who turn away from it, so we should take time to reflect on the Quran because Allah sent it to us a sign for those who believe, May Allah help us to all study, learn and reflect about the Quran.
23:99-111-
"[For such is the state of the disbelievers], until, when death comes to one of them, he says,
My Lord, send me back"
"That I might do righteousness in that which I left behind." No!
It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected."
"So when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will
they ask about one another."
"And those whose scales are heavy [with good deeds] - it is they who are the successful."
"The Fire will sear their faces, and they therein will have taut smiles."
"[It will be said]. "Were not My verses recited to you and you used to deny them?"
"They will say, "Our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us, and we were a people astray."
"Our Lord, remove us from it, and if we were to return [to evil], we would indeed be
wrongdoers."
"He will say, "Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me."
"Indeed, there was a party of My servants who said, 'Our Lord, we have believed,
so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful."
"But you took them in mockery to the point that they made you forget
My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them."
"Indeed, I have rewarded them this Day for their patient endurance - that they are the
attainers [of success]."
These verses are so powerful with the fact that this is mentioning that when someone
who did not believe in Islam dies, they ask Allah for another chance at life. They want
a redo basically, to do things the way they were warned to, but they will be told, was
there not the evidence of the Quran with its verses right there in front of you? It also
mentions they used to make fun of those who practiced Islam, but in reality they
are the ones who are regretting what they did. These verses also mention how on
the Day of Judgment is going on relationships will be torn apart and everyone will fend
for themselves. If we are patient at those who ridicule us, our reward is with Allah.
Surah An-Nur, 10, 20-21,25
"And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy... and
because Allah is Accepting of repentance and Wise."
"And if it had not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy...
and because Allah is Kind and Merciful."
"O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the
footsteps of Satan -indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing. And if not for the favor
of Allah upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have been pure, ever, but Allah
purifies whom He wills, and Allah is Hearing and Knowing."
"That Day, Allah will pay them in full their deserved recompense, and
they will know that it is Allah who is the perfect in justice."
I really loved these verses, one thing I noticed about the Quran is there is often a repeating
of a phrase or a theme that continues either throughout the same Surah or in different Surahs,
usually it is worded differently and is according to context. The repeating phrase here is "If it
were not for the Favor of Allah upon you and His mercy", basically telling us without
Allah's favor and mercy we would be not be able to do very much and we would basically
be screwed. The last verse didn't have that theme but I love verses that mention justice and
it is also mentioning to use that we will be paid back for the things we do, good or bad.
Surah Al-Furqan, 20:
"And We did not send before you, [O Muhammad], any of the messengers except that they
ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you [people] as
trial for others - will you have patience? And ever is your Lord, Seeing."
I also like verses that mention patience (cause I know I can personally practice more of it)
and it is amazing how it is mentioned that people on this Earth will be a trial. It made me
think of our president Donald Trump and countless other political leaders who abuse
their power and harm others, they are a trial and they will be paid in full for the evil
they do, and if we have to deal with them it is a test and In Sha Allah we can make it
through. When the ignorant approach us, we say peaceful words and walk away.
JazakAllah Khair for reading loves! Have a lovely day!
