Violence in Sri Lanka: Escalation Since Easter Sunday Attacks

Asalam alaykum loves ! We made it through day ten of Ramadan ! MashAllah Allahumma Barik May Allah continue to make this month a blessed one , where we accumulate good deeds , a connection with the Quran and those that love Allah and do what pleases Allah ! Ameen !

I am continuing to try to bring light to countries and crises that need our attention, support, prayers and donations to help families who in the middle of tragedy and suffering. The month of Ramadan we strengthen our character by depriving our bodies of our basic needs , it helps us understand what those that go through hunger on a daily basis experience. Not to mention in charity you give will not decrease from your wealth and the reward will be multiplied because you are fasting for Allah’s sake.

Surah Al-Nisaa, verse 29:

O you who have believed, do not consume one another's wealth unjustly but only [in lawful] business by mutual consent. And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful..

This verse tells us to not take from each other unjustly unless there is consent from both parties. Do not hurt each other, and Allah is Merciful. Unfortunately there are those in this world that do not understand or like the Quran therefore do injustice to others and kill for sport.

Last month on April 22 in Sri Lanka, on Easter Sunday during the time when people gather to worship, three churches and three hotels were bombed, killing over 200 people. Now it’s heartbreaking to hear that anyone would do this especially so on a religious holiday where people are gathering to celebrate.

Now the violence hasn’t stopped since there, the Muslims were blamed for this attacks and innocent Muslims are now being targeted as a result of the bombings. Buddhists have attacked and killed Muslims in the streets and destroyed local mosques. Heavily armed soldiers now have to patrol the streets and stand in front of Mosques to protect the facilities and those who inside.

TRIGGER WARNING, VIOLENCE. THIS GAVE ME CHILLS TO READ THIS.

A Muslim man was hacked to death on Monday in violence in which members of the largely Buddhist majority ethnic Sinhalese attacked Muslim-owned shops and homes in the country's north-west, Rauff Hakeem, a Cabinet minister and leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, said.”

So not only are the Muslims being attacked by Buddhist extremist groups , they have a curfew where they cannot be out late because of the violence. On top of that social media and messaging apps have been blocked. I know it is for their safety but it’s terrible that all these precautions need to be made in the first place.
“One Muslim businessman told the BBC Sri Lanka's Muslim communities were all "living in fear now" amid a widespread atmosphere of distrust and recrimination.
His factory in a northern suburb of Colombo was burned to the ground on Monday night by a rampaging mob.
The trader, who did not wish to be named, said around 200 rioters broke through his factory's gates after running amok through a nearby tow”
May Allah protect our Sri Lankan brothers and sisters, protect them from from those that wish them harm , grant them safety and support, grant them love and guidance during difficult times, grant them reward for their hardship and reward them for all the good that they do. Ameen.
